It's not a techincal review its more of a 'ohhhhhh pretty!' strip away the fancy gfx and its like any other single player campain.

Ahh so its not that good ya say? Nope it's great fun, the guns feel good and pack a punch and have a varied range with old familairs all dolled up. The gfx are stunning, made using Doom 3's engine and you can tell, but where as Doom was all sparkly n metallic, this is more gritty but colourful with a smacked around look splalttered with blood.

The cut sequances are in game style rendering which normally puts me off, I like to see FMV sequnces at high polygon count. But in this game just like Doom 3, it doesn't really matter, it still looks stunning and of course it flows well from game play to sequances. And there's nice touches when roaming around 'Hannibal' (large drop ship) you arn't rushed to next sector, you can stop and listen in to conversations around the ship whle your making your way to briefing rooms etc. (this happens twice in the game rest is all action FPS style)

It's a very action packed game and its really good fun, it doesn't bring anythng new to the genre besides the quality of gfx, the lighting effects, and the shadows. The AI lacked some what after seeing FEAR's (i'll make another review for that) but the enemy in Q4 is more 'RARRRRRR' while running at you rather than squad tactics as seen in FEAR. Though as you go through the game the more human enemies do have some nice moves reminicent of FEAR's but not at their standard.

Over all : Excellent FPS. At 'Normal' level it's not that challenging, there arn't really any tough sections that require repeat attempts to get you through, most FPS games usually have at least 2 sections where you struggle like mad to get through, but this is plain sailing all the way through, but it's that enjoyable and stunning to look at it doesnt matter. Definately one of the best games of 2005.
