Well in the end I've gone for:
Akasa AK-CB423-ADPT 4 - 3pin adapter cable (CB-012-AK) (need that for Fan)
Delta 80mm Fan (EHE) (FG-004-DE)
Zalman ZM-NB47J Northbridge Cooler (SY-007-ZA)
Decieded not to bother with a glowing one, would be nice, but I thought more important for wind to actually hit the heatsink. So I went for the Delta, and because that is so powerful I have to plug it into the PSU as it could fry the mobo if I attach it to that. It's not meant to be that quiet like, but it'll do the job! I hope! _________________ www.richard1973.co.uk www.addad.co.uk |

Ah yeah just an update:
Got the Zalman heatsink on, and it's doing a great job! But the big powerful fan!! the cable adapter was the wrong one, grr. And I don't fancy paying yet another large p+p charge for a £1.25 cable.
money spent so far with this carry on £40, and for what its actually being used for right now? a £5 heatsink! I'll buy a cable for the fan as and when I see one or next time I order pc parts online (Fan isn't essential, I just thought be nice to use slot on my case that's empty, plus obviously keep things even cooler as pc is on 24/7 usually).
I tried 2 local pc shops, and both didn't stock the cable I needed, and the cheeky git in one of them said:
internet companies make most their money on p+p charges thats why cable is so cheap, in a shop you'd be paying at least £5 for that cable, your better off buying this fan I have here....
He then picks up a completely different fan ( I already told him it's an 80mm by 80mm one for case side) this one he showed was a PCI slot fan that looked like it couldn't blow a feather, annndd it wouldn't of even hit the areas I wanted it too (i.e. heatsink for extra coolness).
Er yeah My PC man I'll buy your crap fan that won't do the job, and I'll let my powerful £10 fan just collect dust! Not to mention he was talking bollocks about cable price, for a similar cable in the past i bought a cable for £2 at AD.
It's all very well small businesses wanting to make money, but I can't stand fecking con artists who don't give a crap about the customers requirements and just wanna make sales. This is why it's good to buy on the net. Well..besides p+p. _________________ www.richard1973.co.uk www.addad.co.uk |

Well the new cable worked, the fan definately works! its dropped temp of mobo from 32 to 27/28 degrees.
Downside it makes a racket!!! can hear it downstairs. It's even way too loud from parents room so I don't think they'll sleep through it. Will be ok in new house when I have pc downstairs and I sleep upstairs, though be annoying to listen too when in lounge. Arghh think I'll use it in the summer mainly, especially when I'm out the house!
Shame there's no simple on / off switch, I'm gonna have to take side panel off each time and unplug power lead to it. grrr. _________________ www.richard1973.co.uk www.addad.co.uk |
