Well it was good, so good in fact it was just as good as Doom 3, in pretty much every single way!!! The only difference really is Doom 3 starts with you making your way to Mars and being shown around, then the s*** hits the fan. The ending gives you the impression 'right that was dangerous we best not ever go there again'.

So Doom 3 Ressurection has you the player going back as another marine. Ohhkayy, however there's a reason, the portal has been opened again! So main difference : where as Doom 3 starts as described above, Ressurection has you going in through the archelogical ruins, so another words, through a cave system before entering the labs etc. So the whole middle section (the bulk of it) is very like Doom 3. And to top it off, you even go back to Hell at the end!

Ressurection does have a whole host of new demons not seen in Doom 3, and some you may remember from the original games. Also in true Doom sequal fashion is the return of the double barrel shotgun, yey! Slow on reloading though, but doesnt half pack a punch!

So it sounds like I'm slating Ressurection, I'm not, I thought it was excellent, but it was just like it's prequal. Though because of this, I did stop half way through for over 6 months before I returned to finish it off, just because of this fact of it being too much like the first.

But I'd still like to see even more Doom releases, though how they would continue the story I don't know, they can't do another retrun to the same complex on Mars, a new angle/setting would be needed.

Game wise though : Doom 3 was really the first of the next generation games (er as in current next gen) , it walked over everything that had been released prior to it, that was Summer 2004 and it's only quite recently (late 2005, Besides Ressurection) other games have come out on the same par, mainly due to because some are using Doom's engine. Doom 3 has set the goal posts for this current generation and visually one and a half years later its still up there as one of the best visuallyl/technically looking games ever. Very Happy

UT2007 will be out this year, so that'll either be on a par with Doom, or even better, it should be better as it will have had a couple more years development behind it. So can UT2007 be the next jump?? Rolling Eyes
