Call OF Duty 2Well I finally let myself install it, I've had this game for 2 months now but I saved it for Xmas
I've just done the first mission, it runs nice and it looks stunning, it was a nice snowy ruined city level too, very seasonal
It was a bit of a hectic level, all the big WW2 games start off action packed these days. MOHAA breakthrough and spearhead and pacific was chaotic to begin with as was the last Call of Duty and so this follows suite. I prefer a more quieter start to get you used to the controls and feel of the game, but it was all good action packed stuff so no complaints. Only gripe being yer squad kept running in front of you while you try to aim at zee germans.
No quicksave Booooooo! just hidden check points of auto save, I say hidden coz when you die you respawn from a section you didn't realise there was a save. But so far seems fairy well spaced out.
Health is weird, there isn't one, they have gone for the more Brothers in Arms approach, though in that your injuries slowed you down and made you hobble, in this you get a warning on screen saying your injured bad, get cover...and then you feel better again a few seconds later. Bit of a cack health way I think, though only played 40mins so far so may get used to it and find it's not a bad change.
but first impressions are: Excellent GFX, fast paced (unlike old man in Land of the Dead) and very movie like. Looking forward to the more traditional, sneak around corridors and such at a calmer pace to get a proper feel of the game. I'm sure I'll put a good chunk of hours in on Christmas day to find out

Coz all my versions require unique CD Keys to play online. Plus I only like to play online against people I know. Beating or getting beat by some random kid in america might as well be a bot.
When I have the odd go of UT2004 online there's that many players joining and leaving games the final score of who wins means nothing also.
I like doing campaigns as it's one big story of events and different missions and I just like to do them as single player. I've never been overly keen on Co-op modes either. Only online/LAN multiplay I like is DM or CTF against people I know.
Yup all the COD's have been excellent games

Russian Campaign Ccompleted.
Nice 'n' Xmassy, it's all snowy in Starlingrad. The save system saves that often its not annoying at all, so thats fine. The health system is not bad, saves yer looking for health packs.
The AI and movement of zee Germans is pretty good, plenty of grenades kicking about and you use them quite often. All this campaign is in the streets of Starlingrad with your platoon, and it's all action packed, though not difficult at all on 'Regular' level, there are two harder settings though which maybe worth checking out as Regular is a bit too easy, though still has it's moments.
At the end of this campain you get to be a bit of a sniper, well you only have to find one person which is given away anyway by one of your blokes going 'he's inthe big building 2nd floor window'. And when defending the final section of this campaign the sniper riffle comes in handy.
As normal its if the cross hair is on the target its gonna kill him, though they did use Sniper Elite's hold your breath button to steady aim. This game is too hectic to then think about gravity and wind affecting bullet.
Good fun so far.

British & American campaign completed. The British campain was more so in Egypt, not my favorite of settings but does make a nice change to urban warfare. The American campaign covers Ohmah beach setting again, which was the original MOHAA's most famous setting, but in COD2 you don't have as much as a difficult task of getting off the beach lke in MOHAA. The majority of this level is a back n forth running around battle from the trenches and bunkers at the top of the cliffs, to a nearby village and country roads. Excellent stuff and very picturesque.
The American campaign finishes in Germany, lots of urban ruined German towns and Hill battles. Again the graphical detail is nice to look at it
It's the best COD game yet! GFX stunning throughout the game, good animation on soldiers movement. Probably the best FPS game for ease of use/accuracy for grenades. Just as well as ya chuck so many of them!
Some games you have to rotate through weapons to get to grenade then hold down button for power of throw, which can all take time and kill the speed and momentum of the game. But with COD2 ya hold down middle mouse button while moving mouse to get right direction and arc then let go and off it goes spot on to where you want it, and ya can do all that while running along. As soon as grenade thrown ya back to machine gun in no time automatically.
Regular normal level may perhaps be a tad too easy, so maybe best to play at the level higher than that. (there's 4 difficulty settings, level 2 being regular default)
