Cold Fear ReviewThis game made a change for me, and brought back memories of Resident Evil / Silent Hill days on PSX.
That's basically what it is, Resident Evil on a Russian Whaling Ship and an Oil Rig. The worst point and it has to be said, is the players movement and viewing. The camera swings around the 3rd person style play, you end up walking in the direction you just came from, and because of this, the camera puts itself in positions you can't see clearly (and to adjust view you find yourself standing in line of fire just to see what's going on) and to combat this annoyance you find yourself moving around a lot in the 'over the shoulder' aimed gun view, which is slow movement.
But if you can put that aside (and you do get used to it) you'll enjoy a very cinematic game.
Your first introduced with a high quality FMV sequance (which appear throughout stages) that gets you well into the mood of wanting to play.
The first thing you see in the in game is the deck of a wild rocking ship with waves slashing up and over the sides of the boat as rain slashes down (and against the screen). The dramatic music plays away and ya adrenaline is pumping, it looks geat!! Then! you realise the awkwardness of the movement.
Normally this would put me off a game straight away, but the build up just makes you wanna see what this game has to offer. And it's good, the puzzles Res Evil / SIlent Hill style are not hard or make you think like Silent Hill's did, but it's ok its, it's more of a case of looking for obvious object to open a door etc. As usual in these kinda games you may find yourself back tracking here and there, but you expect that.
The look and feel of the boat and Rig are nicely done, they are rusty and old but useable, just what'd you'd expect from a Russian setting.
The game isn't too challenging, but it's a good horror game which is mainly carried by it's locations/settings, stunning FMV sequances, the fact your killing zombies, and finally (for me) the novelty of playing a Res Evil style game again (unless you kept up playing them on consoles).

they are 2 completely different games, thats like saying play Fifa 2006 instead. But yeah Farcry was really good, and that BF is the Xbox one. I'll do a BF2 and BF2 Special Forces Ops review later (though I can't do a throrough one as I can only comment on single player game not online  )
