A little info on the little guy. Serpo website has him as a classified above to secret clone of an eben. Other articles i've found include:

Seems to relate to Serpo, this article was written in 2002 three years before serpo website launched. J-Rod being from the same star system Serpo is in 'ZETA RETICULII I AND II'. And also mentions the exchange program that started in mid 60's, of which Serpo was 1965. This website seems to suggest ebens originate from Earth, but our future and they left earth due to a major disaster. Now they have travelled back in time to help us avoid this from happening. Serpo.org doesn't menton any ancestorage from Earth.
